The Civilian Use of Space Technology: NOCO Technology of Casarte Miracle Heater

At the Summit Forum of China’s Consumer Electronics Industry 2014, Casarte Miracle Heater won the “Annual Ten Innovative Products Award”. The core advantage of this product lies in the fact that it has overcome the long-existing problem of gas water heater industry and that the NOCO technology applied can eliminate CO, which enables users to enjoy safer and more comfortable bath.

In October 2010, users of Casarte heaters raised a series of suggestions. “Despite excellent protection measures against CO, it’s better to eliminate CO at the root.” This user need triggered Haier’s exploration of “extreme safety”.

In December 2010, Haier Advanced R&D Center started research on NOCO, trying to apply space air purification technology to gas water heater and eliminate CO through catalytic oxidation.

In April 2011, a maker project was released on HOPE extensively collecting relevant enterprises. After an automatic selection based on label matching and big data technology, 16 world-leading companies met the need for R&D.

In June 2011, the expert team of HOPE evaluated these technical resources and finally reached technical cooperation agreements with 2 organizations. Maker team and the R&D organizations co-constructed an association lab where NOCO technology was successfully developed.

In March 2012, in spite of trial and error of over 3000 hours, CO emission was still above the level of 200PPM. The initial plan ended up with a failure. In April 2012, however, in order to realize the catalysis of CO, the maker team made a breakthrough with the space technology used in Shenzhou VII spaceship based on the burning environment of gas water heater. After another test of over 1600 hours, this technology was successfully applied to gas water heater and zero-emission of CO became a reality.

In July 2012, industrial design of Casarte gas water heater was started.

In December 2013, the first prototype was completed.

On December 30th, 2013, 100 industrial prototypes underwent a reliability test.

In April 2014, geek assessment began.

In September 2014, the release conference of Casarte Miracle Heater was held in Beijing.
