Haier and HigherHaier-Cosco cooperation for long-term prosperity--Haier and Cos.. On October 25, the Agreement for Strategic Cooperation for Haier and Cosco was signed by Wei Jiafu, President of Cosco, and Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier Group, at Room 205, headquarters of Haier, symbolizing kickoff of the global cooperation strategy of the two giants. Relationship of Cosco and Haier During discussions, the two leaders shared the same ideas on similarities of the two companies:Being ambitious to access to the Fortune Global 500 as the representatives of China's national industry;Adhering to globalization policy to compete in world marketplace.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Cosco Boston in December, 2003 and highly praised outstanding performance of Cosco and Haier in achieving success in worldwide marketing; Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin likens Haier's globalization strategy to studying abroad with three phases, education, naturalization and mainstream involvement. Cosco President Wei Jiafu agreed and said, 'It proves that visiting Haier is always fruitful'. In addition, the two giants have the same corporate philosophy, to provide customers final solutions, not only products. Mr. Wei iterated that business goal of Cosco is to provide Haier solutions for logistics cost reduction. Expectation of Cosco and Haier cooperation At the signing ceremony, Mr. Wei Jiafu showed strong confidence of the long-term cooperation between the two companies and said, 'whenever Haier goes, Cosco will follow'. So expressed Mr. Zhang, 'Many foreign companies are interested in China's market, not China's enterprises. So, the cooperation between the two companies will be aimed at implementation of the globalization strategy.' After the ceremony, the President of Cosco presented Haier a model of dolphin, symbolizing the ambition of Haier. In return, Mr. Zhang Ruimin, on behalf of Haier, gave Cosco a model of Haier headquarters office building.
