Haier

The 19th World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) co-sponsored by the International Federation of Accountants and the Italian Association of Accountants was held in Rome, Italy from Nov. 10th to 13th. On the forum themed “Next Generation of eCFO, Trend-Leader of the Times”, Tan Lixia, Haier Group’s SVP and CFO, the CFOs of British Telecom, Italian Solvay and Russian Diageo and Charles Tilley, CEO of the Royal Chartered Institute of Management Accountants exchanged views around topics such as disruptive innovation, open employees and financial transformation. Tan Lixia introduced Haier’s Internet-based financial system transformation on the congress, winning highly praise from the attendees.

Themed “Prospect into 2020: Draw Development Experience, Create a Better Future”, the 19th WCOA was aimed at constructing an Internet-oriented financial management mode through the brainstorming of global accountants. Nearly 4000 accounting professionals all over the world attended the congress, discussing the development experience and trend of accounting profession to promote the innovative development of accounting and business communities.

On the forum, Tan Lixia shared Haier’s experience in Internet-based platformization transformation, individual-goal combination mode innovation and financial system transformation, and introduced Haier’s innovation modes and vivid cases of microenterprise mechanism, open employee system, the application of Internet and open resources to build value-creating ecosystem for users, and the realization of added value by financial personnel, etc.

According to Tan Lixia, Haier is promoting the strategic theme of “company platformization, employee entrepreneurship and user personalization” to turn the original closed company into an open ecosystem which can integrate global resources to realize goals. Meanwhile, the employees have been turned from passive performers into active entrepreneurs, by which the company has become an open incubation platform of entrepreneurs.

After an understanding of Haier’s innovative practices in the age of Internet, all the attendees spoke highly of its innovation exploration. Charles Tilley praised Haier as one of the most innovative enterprises in the world, and gave credit to its financial innovation, regarding Haier’s innovation idea as the transformation orientation and target for all the CFOs present.

Ash Noah, vice president of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants believed that Haier ranked front in the world in terms of its organization transformation, management innovation and financial system transformation, which led the trend of our times and set an example for other enterprises. In addition, he observed that Haier’s finance had successfully transformed into an efficient cooperator of business value creation, which had played a key role in strategy, organization, process, mechanism and the innovative design and effective operation of the platform and set a good example for other enterprises in the world.

As the “Olympics” in international accounting field, WCOA is aimed as providing an opportunity to exchange views and propose solutions for the participants so as to promote the innovative development of global accounting and economy. All the participants of the forum were selected by the organizer based on their growth and innovation degrees on a rigorous manner, with Haier the only Chinese participant.
