From November 17 to 18, the 8th Peter F.Drucker Global Forum was held in Vienna, Austria, and the international management academia ushered in a thought feast. Themed with “Entrepreneurial Society”, the forum has attracted many famous entrepreneurs, management thinkers and scholars. Bill Fischer, innovation management professor of International Institute for Management Development, presided over the thought dialogue themed with “Can large enterprises be more entrepreneurial?” During the session, Bill Fischer and the famous strategic management master Gary Hamel thought highly of the model innovation of Haier. Haier became a focus of this global top-level management forum again after Zhang Ruimin, chairman and CEO of Haier Group, was invited to attend this forum and deliver a speech last year.
“Haier is a company full of imagination, and we need to learn from them”, Gary Hamel, a strategic management master, said in this forum. Gary Hamel held the opinion that Haier is a model of overcoming the conflict between entrepreneurial spirit and enterprise scale while many large enterprises are caught in the dilemma of losing entrepreneurial spirit. In the internet era, the “individual-goal combination” management model developed by Haier has not only contributed to solving the innovation problems of large enterprises, but also provided a new organization model for building “Innovation-oriented Society” in a way. In the Haier model, every employee faces the market directly, creates market, and becomes the main body of enterprise innovation, and every entrepreneur can be his or her own CEO with the help of the platform.
