On November 22, 2016, UNDP China Office and Haier Group signed a MOU in Qingdao to establish a strategic partnership and conduct cooperation in the inclusive and sustainable development. Patrick Haverman, Deputy Country Director of UNDP China, Wang Lei, vice chairman of China Household Electrical Appliance Association, Zhou Yunjie, vice chairman and rotating president of Haier Group, and Xie Juzhi, vice president of Haier Group, attended the signing ceremony, and both sides signed the cooperation agreement on healthy drinking water and water resources and environmental protection project, with a view to demonstrating and promoting healthy drinking water scheme, communicating the knowledge on healthy drinking water and water resources protection, etc. to rural residents, and improving the protection and construction of healthy drinking water environment of rural residents and rural water resources eco-environment.
Among the 17 targets for sustainable development, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the UN, there is the sixth targeting providing people with water and environmental health support, and conducting sustainable management thereof. The target in this area is that all the people can have access to safe and affordable drinking water with the water quality improved in 2030. The “one water station for one village” healthy drinking water project jointly pushed forward by RRS.COM health platform of Haier Group with local governments exactly conforms to the aim. While joining hands with UNDP to implement the healthy drinking water and water resources and environmental protection project, Haier Group is pushing forward its RRS health platform to provide local rural residents with healthy drinking water solutions based on water quality conditions of different regions of China. Xie Juzhi, vice president of Haier Group, said, “our healthy water stations on the RRS platform have already provided healthy drinking water to 35 districts and counties across the country, and we hope that more enterprises, institutions, and resources will get involved to contribute to China’s healthy drinking water in rural regions and water resources and environment protection.”
