The Red Dot Award was founded in 1955 in Germany, after more than 60 years of development, it has become a renowned creative design award as well as one of the most influential design awards in the world. It serves as a signpost of design and development trends in global industry, known as the "Oscar for Product Design". The judges evaluate the entries in terms of innovation, function, human engineering, ecological effect, durability and other indicators with extremely rigorous standards. This award is the highest praise for industrial product design, and winning it means gaining the most authoritative "quality assurance" both in appearance and texture. Haier has won over 40 awards since it firstly won the Red Dot Award in 2008, and as the winner of the highest award for the first time this year, Haier shows its excellent industrial design strength.
The chief designer of Haier S-BOX air cleaner said that the target of this product for team members was very simple: let users use best quality product with low price. In order to put this product on the market, this team has opened resources to make 15 structure designs, made real-communication with small-micro users of air cleaners to understand users' dynamic demand, and even searched for resources who can undertake processing in advance to make full preparation for listing as much as possible.
Chinese judge Lu Xiaobo of the Red Dot Award once said: "the success of a design depends on the user experience it creates and the problem it solves. "In the Internet age, Haier adheres to the concept of "Designed by Users". Through the open R&D and manufacturing model, users' needs and pain points can be transformed into a continuous wave of products, and user experience becomes the starting point as well as the end point of design innovation. That's why Haier finally has earned recognition from the industry and users, appeared on the podium of international design awards for many times, and become a bright brand of Chinese house appliances.
